005 - Pharmacies & Tobacco

Description

“The stunning, sobering fact is that there are more pharmacies selling cigarettes today than there were 20 and 25 years ago, independent pharmacies (most of which had stopped selling tobacco products out of concern for their customers’) have largely been overtaken by the large-chain drugstores, notable Walgreen, CVS, Rite-Aid, Wal-Mart, Safeway and Publix. Yet these chains have been oblivious to pleas to stop selling cigarettes even as they describe themselves as partners in health care.”
